Author Bio:

Born in Flint, Michigan. Received MA and Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University. Set up private practice in Atlanta, Georgia as a Consulting Psychologist, a practice of 18 years doing psychotherapy, counseling, diagnostics and executive consultation. Moved to Gainesville, Georgia to enter writing full-time, at first doing ghost-writing and screenplays before turning back to novels. At present, putting the final touches to A TIME OF RECKONING, the sequel to OF GOOD AND EVIL.

Gerald is a member of International Thriller Writers (ITW) and while in practice in Atlanta he was listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Personalities of America and Notable Americans.

Gerald is divorced with two grown sons, and is presently engaged.

Without giving too much away, can you tell us what Of Good and Evil is about?

It is a spellbinding suspense thriller of nobility and humanity in the battle of spirit versus tyranny whereby good and evil are shown in a light that is not thought of. A page-turner story of harrowing action with vivid and vibrant characters, the novel is a hard-charging tale of a gifted Green Beret, Ron Sheffield, discharged from the army for going “crazy,” and from there the fireworks begin. Falling in love, initiating an unusual romance, Ron and his gifted beloved, Amber Ash, are pushed into spine-tingling, gripping ventures, among them: being sought out for death by an unsavory government cell because of secret documents Ron possesses; battles with the Mafia and terrorists; conflicts with a secret society with powers beyond imagination holding the key to their survival; discovering plans of the 9/11 terrorist attacks beforehand, but their warnings ignored; Ron having no choice but to become a special hit man for the Mafia in order to save his sanity; and Ron facing an impossible confrontation with a covert Khalid Sheikh Mohammed terrorist cell at the moment it is about to bring off the nuclear obliteration of a major American city. The reader is engrossed in humanity, villains, hate, love, friendship, and sorrow, all intermixed in one enticing conflict spiting out fire like a Gatling gun and keeping the reader on edge.

How long did it take you to write this book?

Two years, including research, countless re-writes, editing, and “test readers” feedback.

What was your inspiration to write this book?

World and internal events affecting our national security, particularly the 9/11 terrorist attacks. And, too, the unresolved emotional/psyche trauma affecting our service men and women returning to civilian life from the military fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What does your family think of your writing?

For the most part, my family thinks that I’m a natural writer, sort of a genius at it, feeling I’m excellent with arranging words to express my thoughts and feelings on paper and creating creative characters in spectacular plots. They are constantly astonished with my imagination and its use in developing my stories, and definitely feel Of Good And Evil should be made into a movie.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book?

It is so finely written, so well plotted and paced, its characters and action resonating so perfectly with a spellbinding plot, as to keep the reader glued to the book from start to finish.

How many books have you written so far?

Seven published books, including two ghost-written ones.

What do you think makes a good story?

Vivid and Vibrant characters resonating perfectly with a spellbinding, galloping plot without a dull moment — crisp, clean and clear — hitting the reader hard and fast from the start and leaving him or her on the edge of their seat.

Is there anything you find challenging in your writing?

Yes, the challenge to constantly strive to improve its quality; to make my latest book the best I’ve ever written. No slacking off letting the reader down.

Do you have any writing projects you are currently working on?

Yes, I’m putting the final touches to Of Good And Evil‘s sequel, entitled, A TIME OF RECKONING. The sequel is another jarring, action-packed suspense thriller — with periods of comic relief from two disgruntled FBI agents disgraced in the previous novel, as well as tragic comic relief from an unbalanced, one-sided, impossibly hoped for love relationship amidst impending catastrophe — where secret cells of Al Qaeda terrorists in the U.S. are bent on annihilating 24 American cities simultaneously in suicide missions, pursuing a plan impossible to stop.

What is your least favorite movie that came from a book?

Not As A Stranger. I feel it was miscast.

What does the word success mean to you?

As a writer, to so fascinate my readers with my present novel that they can’t wait to read my next one.

Synopsis:

Ron Sheffield, a gifted but tormented Green Beret, plagued by suicidal guilt because of his “special” abilities, is discharged from the army for going “crazy.” Immediately, he is brutally beaten and shot by the Mafia, and is hospitalized near death. His life is dramatically saved by Amber Ash, who also possesses “special” abilities, and from there the two are propelled into harrowing ventures against mobsters, terrorists, and and a government cell out to kill them over Iraqi documents Ron possesses from his army service. In an ironic twist, Ron becomes a Mafia hit man to save his sanity, targeting only fallen mobsters. This brings Ron and Amber into contact with the powerful and humane gifted secret society, Eros; this contact eventually actualizing Ron’s mental gifts to a point beyond his imagination. Ron is confronted with the imminent nuclear obliteration of a major American city by a suicidal terrorist cell that only he can stop. But against impossible obstacles, will he be able to do it in time?
